Carbon Neutral Independent Climbing Gym

Great news! Bristol's independent Bloc climbing centre is now a Carbon Neutral Organisation, certified by Carbon Neutral Britain. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and will continue to drive down our carbon footprint at our BS2 gym. Join us in playing your part for a greener Bristol.
CO2 EMISSIONS REDUCTION
At Bloc Bristol, we're committed to clean energy. By partnering with a renewable energy company, we're ensuring investment in ways to generate power from unlimited natural resources. Our independent Bristol climbing gym is powered sustainably, reducing our environmental impact in BS2 and beyond.
Carbon footprint
We've slashed our energy consumption at our Bristol centre by 50% using A++ efficiency LED lighting throughout our bouldering walls and facilities. Our white goods range between A & B Efficiency Rating. We encourage our Bristol-based team to walk, cycle, or use public transport, with only 5% car sharing. Our independent gym leads by example in sustainable Bristol business practices.
Plastics and Packaging
All café products at Bloc Bristol are sourced from like-minded local suppliers who limit plastic use. We avoid single-use plastics including water bottles and dispensers at our independent BS2 climbing centre. Bring your reusable bottle and help us keep Bristol plastic-free!
Waste and Recycling
Our glass, paper, and cardboard is recycled at our Bristol gym, with ambitious targets set to reduce our annual general waste. We distribute surplus food locally via Bristol food banks, and much of our furniture and storage is made by us using locally upcycled vintage materials. Supporting Bristol's circular economy is part of our independent ethos.

Supporting our local Bristol community and investing in those who need support is central to Bloc's mission as an independent business. We continue to support Bristol charities and encourage wellbeing through our sporting activities and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
