20th April – Open to all Students University Climbing Competition

April 20th we are proud to be hosting another fun and friendly open university climbing competition. These events are always ace, with Universities coming from all over the south west bringing old and new climbers together for a social with a competition attached!

All the of the climbing and bouldering problems are set especially for the event, having only been climbed by the routesetter. There will be  25 climbs to try with a huge range of styles.

The competition is absolutely catering for all with a large portion of the climbs will be in the 6a+ range and below. We will of course have a few hard blocs to keep all the superstars at bay and split the winners.

The aim of the event is to have fun and enjoy the day. We have a scoring system that really works towards that, generally the more effort you put in the higher the score you will get!

We try exceptionally hard to make everyone feel welcome and have staff on hand to help and offer advice all the way through the competition.

If this is your first competition, it will be your best!

No prebooking is required simply turn up on the day and register at reception. There is no additional cost to the climbing competition. Entry is charged at normal rate.

You will need to be a member of the centre or to be a guest of a member, if you have not registered with us and you have previous climbing experience of around 10 hours or more you may register for a cost of £4.

What actually happens?

The meeting is at 2.30pm with the climbing round starting at 3pm. From 3pm all the climbers have 3 hours to complete as many problems as they can to get the highest score possible ), from there the winners are announced, showered with glorious prizes while proud of fact that they are without doubt the best climber in the world!
